Mindfulness ruck from Kribi, 2.8 miles.
The first mile was done in silence. Men were asked to notice what was happening around them and inside them. If the mind started racing, come back to the five senses:
What do you see
What do you hear
What do you feel
What do you smell
What do you taste
Then notice what was happening in the body:
Breath
Tension
Energy
Calm
Restlessness
Heaviness
Ease
After the first mile we broke silence and spent the rest of the ruck talking with the men around us about what came up.
Prompts included:
What did you notice in the silent mile
What helped get you out of your head and back into your body
What showed up first when things got quiet
What do you notice in your body right now
What might your body, mind, or some part of you be trying to tell you
Where in your life would it help to respond instead of react
What is one thing you want to carry into the rest of the day

This morning was inspired by 10% Happier. The point of mindfulness is not to empty your mind or become some perfectly calm person. It is to notice what is already happening without getting dragged around by it.
For me, meditation has been helpful because it makes me more aware of what is going on inside my body. It gives me a little more space to listen before reacting. That space matters. Sometimes the win is not that life got easier. It is that you noticed what was happening and stayed with it a little longer.
Great group, great morning, great way to start the day.
