COT: 1. This workout had lasting effects on YHC through today, not sure if that’s a personal weakness or it really was that tough
2. Over the past week we learned that YHCs M had a suspicious mass in her chest. As a husband and partner, I was forced to find my way into a supporting role, what does she need from me right now, how can I lift her up and remove the worry, how do I make myself a better listener. Doctor’s appointment was Saturday morning so this was present on my mind.
3. The prior evening in the car coming home from softball practice I found myself also comforting my 10 year old who had a tough night of practice, reminding her that I don’t care how successful she is in sport, what I care about is whether she is putting in her full effort and attention, is she coachable and open to feedback, is she having fun, is she making friends, and if we can be on this journey together then no matter the outcome, the time spent will have been worth it.
In summation, we are not always the leading role of our own lives, in fact it is better for us to find our roles as supporting husbands, fathers, and sons. This is not always, or maybe even ever easy, but it is what we should strive to be better at.
