In the book “The In er Game of Tennis,” the author describes two selves: Self 1 is the judgmental self, always trying to take credit for good outcomes and criticizing personal failures; Self 2 is the part that actually executes the action. In order for Self 2 to be successful, Self 1 has to be quiet. It’s amazing how applicable this is to so many areas of life, not just tennis. A really great read for anyone who has measured outcomes.
